The Lithium Tetraborate (Li2B4O7) fusion flux manufactured by Fernand CLAISSE inc. has been made specifically to obtain a product with new properties.
Our fusion flux has special oxidizing and releasing properties:
It can be used with most oxides, acidic and basic;
It needs less releasing agent which means higher accuracy in analytical results;
Easily reductible oxides (Ti, Cr, Cu, Fe) stick less or do not stick to crucibles and moulds;
Crucibles are protected from corrosive particles of the sample and metallic particles from grinding,
which means less polishing of crucibles.
The Low price of that flux is an additional important advantage and is only due to simplicity of fabrication.
Our Li Tb is made from materials of 99.99 % purity.
That Lithium Tetraborate contains approximately 16 to 18 % volatile that will disappear during fusion. The required flux weight can be easily calculated from
the L.O.I. indicated on each container of flux. When heated, the volume of flux decreases gradually as fusion proceeds. The weight of the bead is the same as if conventional Li Tb had been used.
